Linear Notes For Over 21

Linear Notes From Select Songs:

Over 21 - The last tune to be recorded for the album in late May of 2007, and the mirror image of the Album's title. "This song came to me right after turning 'of age' and the chorus came together with one of the first guitar riffs I ever really wrote, once that fell into place I knew it had to be recorded," Chris said. "The slide solo came after a lot of practice, but I'm very proud of this song as whole," he added.

Where Is She Tonight? - This tune has been around for years; I first played it with Mark Butler in mid 2004. The words always stuck with me, and during late July 06' I found myself with a few days to lay down a track and nothing to do," Chris said. He added, "I was just fooling around with a capo and out came the song in a completely different way, it's one of the few songs that still has the original guitar/vocal takes in it." Almost 6 months after the original recording session drummer Dan Cooper laid down the tracks heard on the final mix.

Find My Way - "I wrote and recorded this song on a weekend over Thanksgiving, it started off as the intro riff and eventually evolved in to a full progression." "I have to admit its probably the 'pop' tune on the record, but I really like the backing vocals and guitar solo..." - Chris Vargo

No Matter What I Do - "I recorded this song with Mark Butler sometime in early 07' and didn't have a chance to touch it for months," said Chris. "By the time Vargo had actually come to me with a mix of the song, I'd forgotten all about it!" said Mark Butler. Vargo added, "It took a lot of work to get it done, but it's a great piece."

If You - "A piece I had written after a beautiful summer day, I must admit it has a Coldplay feel to it," said Chris. "10 months went by before I could properly finish it, but I think the final product is short and to the point," he added.

You Gotta Have Soul - "I wanted to play with Ken "Hiram" Walker on a tune, and I knew it had to be a rocker, so I wrote this song off of a guitar riff I had," said Vargo. He added, "Only Hiram could have played the lead guitar like that, I absolutely love it."

I Just Tried To Love You - "This was a song I'd had in the vault for awhile, I brought a bunch of tunes in during a session with Vargo at the end of the Summer, he picked this one out, his slide solo really takes the song at moments." - Mark Butler

Reason to Grow - "This was my first stab at using a Diminished 7th for all you musicians out there." "This song almost got cut, but when Dan took a stab at the drums it really started to come together, after another shot at the vocals I felt it was good enough to release." - Chris Vargo
